Dale Farm

If not on a scrapyard then where?

Due to the news about an eviction enforced yesterday by police riot squads (sic) at Dale Farm in UK i did some research and would like to share some information with you.

Dale Farm is a part of a Romany Gypsy and Irish Traveller halting site on Oak Lane in Crays HillEssex, United Kingdom which houses over 1,000 people, the largest Traveller concentration in the UK…

Not familiar with the term “Travellers” i had to look it up.

Apparently they were talking about:
Irish Travellers or Irish Gypsies (Irishan lucht siúilSheltaPavee) who are traditionally nomadic people of ethnic Irish origin, who maintain a separate language and set of traditions. They live predominantly in the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. more on wikipedia

Social conflicts and controversies are still existing – as it has always been since a long time between nomads and sedentary people.
